Five area lakes offer various activities, including water-skiing,
boating, sailing, fishing and camping. Additional opportunities at
Boomer Lake Park include picnic shelters, playgrounds, a jogging
trail, frisbee golf, tennis, and a roller hockey rink. Lake McMurty is
one of the top ten best trophy bass lakes in Oklahoma. Payne County
has long been a hunter's paradise.
There are 4 outstanding golf
courses within 15 minutes of downtown Stillwater and 60 within a
75-mile radius. Payne County was named one of the top ten overall
for golfing retirees by Golf Digest. Karsten Creek Golf Course just
west of Stillwater was recently named the best new public golf
course nationwide and is destined to become world class.
Stillwater holds many annual events that the local population
looks forward to year after year and also attract people from
all over the region. These include the Stillwater Home
Builders Association Home & Garden Show, Celebrate Stillwater - Run
for the Arts Fine Art & Music Festival, Tumbleweed Calf Fry, Oklahoma
Special Olympics State Games, Boomer Blast 4th of July Celebration,
Eskimo Joe's Birthday Bash, "Krazy Daze" sidewalk sale, the Payne
County Free Fair and many more.

allows visitors to relive the "Tour of the Prairies" along the
Cimarron River Bluffs.
Big 12 intercollegiate sports and some of
the best golfing in the world dominate a calendar filled with fun for
all ages. OSU athletic teams have won 44 national championships - only
USC, UCLA and Stanford have claimed more.
